Celexa is a medication for treating people suffering from depression.
Celexa belongs to antidepressant drugs group named selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors abbreviated SSRIs. It restores serotonin balance helping to improve different mood problems.

The drug is taken for other purposes not mentioned in the guide.

Celexa is inappropriate for the patients who have had a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the last 14 days. They are rasagiline (Azilect), isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), and also rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), and tranylcypromine (Parnate). You can start using an MAOI only in 14 days after you stop taking Celexa.

It was noticed that people begin to think about suicide during the first period of medication. Most frequent cases were among people under 24 years of age. It is recommended to check regularly with your doctor for 12 weeks since the beginning of treatment.

Noticed any strange symptoms contact the doctor immediately. It can be changes in mood or behavior, trouble sleeping, anxiety, panic attacks. You should also check with the specialist if you become agitated, impulsive, irritable, aggressive, hostile, hyperactive, more depressed, or start hurting yourself and thinking about suicide.

Planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor about using Celexa as it can be dangerous for newborn babies.
