Cymbalta

Cymbalta is a medication that treats major depression and general anxiety. It also treats fibromyalgia and pain resulted from nerve damage in people suffering from diabetes.

Cymbalta belongs to selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs). The medication balances brain chemicals thus preventing depression.

The drug is taken for other purposes not included in the guide. The pills are forbidden if you take thioridazine (Mellaril), or if you have one of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI). Among them phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect) isocarboxazid (Marplan), also selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), and tranylcypromine (Parnate). Only in 14 days after you stop taking an MAOI you are able to use this drug. And you may begin to take MAOI only in 5 days after stopping Cymbalta.

Cases are known when people begin to think about suicide during the first period of medication. It’s most frequent for people under 24 years of age. It is recommended to check regularly with your doctor for 12 weeks since the beginning of treatment.

Noticed any strange symptoms contact the doctor immediately. The symptoms include changes in mood or behavior, trouble sleeping, anxiety, panic attacks. You should also check with the specialist if you become agitated, impulsive, irritable, aggressive, hostile, hyperactive, more depressed, or start hurting yourself and thinking about suicide.

Do not drink alcohol if you take Cymbalta. It may damage your liver.

Cymbalta causes drowsiness, and can impede reactions. Caution driving or doing anything requiring increased alert.
